|National School of Character|
In October 2003, St. Genevieve was the first high school in California – and the first Catholic school in the nation – to be named a “National School of Character” by the Character Education Partnership in Washington, D.C. Faculty and staff flew to the nation’s capitol to accept the prestigious honor on behalf of the entire school community.
Steve Allen “Excellence in Education” Award
In 2004, our school received the “Steve Allen Award” for educational excellence and community outreach from the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley. The award recognizes outstanding schools, educators or students who have brought national attention to the region. The award is named for long-time Valley resident and legendary entertainer Steve Allen, who valued learning and spent much of his later years focused on speaking and writing about he importance of education.

Smart & Good High Schools is a national study of American high schools – including site visits to 24 diverse schools, hundreds of interviews, a comprehensive research review, and the input of a National Experts Panel and a National Student Leaders Panel. HEART OF A LEADER AWARDS
Taking the lead is more challenging than ever in today’s world. Good leaders are hard to find and great leaders have almost disappeared from the landscape. At St. Gen’s, we are working diligently to inspire leadership in our students. Our goal is for every graduate of St. Genevieve High School to know that when they accept their diploma, they are accepting the challenge to help make our world a better place to live.
In getting to know us, you will frequently hear the term, VALIANT SPIRIT! It is truly this spirit that makes us unique. The SPIRIT of us VALIANTS is one which supports each other, encourages each other, challenges each other, and most importantly, it is a spirit that allows us to love one another. The bottom line is, there is a lot of love on this Valiant campus.
Do we all get along all of time? Of course not. Do students make the right choices all of the time? You already know the answer to that one.
What makes us special is that we make attempts to get along all of the time as well as to always make the right choices. Our students are encouraged to embrace the qualities that make them unique, to respect the differences in others. We work hard at creating an environment where ALL ARE WELCOME, where ALL ARE RESPECTED, and where ALL SHOW RESPECT. We are trying to prepare our students to be leaders in a turbulent world by providing a high school experience where it is cool to love and be loved.
Thank you for your interest in St. Genevieve High School.

Athletic Mission Statement
Saint Genevieve High School strives for excellence in the classroom and on the fields and courts, and views athletic competition as an integral part of education. Through character development, we create an atmosphere that fosters fair play, good sportsmanship, Christian values and positive reinforcement. Our ultimate goal is to develop the whole person.
“Winning is important, but a victory is not always reflected in the numbers on the score-board. We measure winning by the character and integrity of our student athletes. ‘Pursuing victory with honor’ is truly our philosophy.”
Over the years, our school has achieved great success in our athletic program. We hold three CIF titles and have won fourteen league championships since the year 2000. Most recently our girl’s soccer team won their sixth Santa Cruz League Championship in a row. In 2012, the Valiant boy’s basketball team won the Santa Fe League Championship for the first time in school history.
“More than any title or award, we are most proud of the sportsmanship and grit determination that our teams consistently display. That is what will mold their futures.”
