Covenant High School

Covenant High School welcomes international students interested in a college-preparatory Christian high school education. The school is located in Tacoma, Washington – 30 miles south of Seattle.

Covenant High School has offered an outstanding college-preparatory Christian high school education since 1992. Our students’ achievement in college entrance exams have placed them in the top tier of all schools in Washington State. 38% of our graduates since 1996 have finished in the top ten percent of Washington graduating seniors based on GPA and college entrance exam scores. Nearly 100% of CHS graduates go on to college and they attend a wide variety of colleges and universities across the USA.

Covenant High School offers an English course for junior and senior English language learners. This course refines and increases students’ ability to comprehend, appreciate, and respond to different types of texts in written form for a variety of audiences and social contexts along with acquiring academic language literacy. Literature selections include a variety of genre and enable students to analyze and make connections between texts. Oral and literacy strategies integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing at increasing levels of accuracy and fluency. The students will continue refining their skills through the writing process with steadily increasing degrees of rigor.

Students will also be instructed in and take practice tests for the TOEFL exam (Test of English as a Foreign Language). The TOEFL exam measures the English proficiency of nonnative speakers of English. It is widely accepted by English-language colleges and universities around the world. This course will help students improve their TOEFL scores and increase their opportunity for admission into American colleges and universities.

Our international student graduates have been accepted to many universities across the USA including: UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles), University of Washington, Boston University, Purdue University, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin; University of Texas, University of Iowa, Seattle Pacific University; University of New York, and others

CHS students may also earn college credit while attending CHS – click on “Earn college credit” to learn more.
