NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL

In 2003, Village Christian School was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. The primary criteria for this distinction is for a school to have standardized test scores in the top 10% of the nation in both reading and math.

Capistrano Valley Christian Schools (CVCS) is a National Blue Ribbon, college preparatory private Christian school serving students in junior kindergarten through twelfth grade.

CVCS, through its curriculum, electives, and extracurricular activities, prepares students for admission into college and for achievement and success in the college environment. CVCS also worsk hard to provide and encourage Opportunities, Participation, and Success in a variety of extracurricular activities and programs. 75% of high school students participate in athletics or in the performing arts program.

In addition to University of California accepted core curriculum, CVCS also offers many Advanced Placement and honors courses. With our small class size, caring and committed  Christian teachers work closely with students assisting them to reach their fullest potential.

Over 20% of our high school faculty has advanced degrees and the average faculty teaching experience is 12 years. Yearly performances include a fall musical or drama production, full-length spring musical, and a year-end showcase production. A commitment to after-school rehearsal and performance hours is required for all participants in the CVCS spring musical production. Students may be eligible for extra credit for contributing to the stagecraft and costume design/sewing elements of performing arts.

PERFORMING ARTS ACHIEVEMENTS

  • In 2015, “How To Succeed In Business…” had our first ever M.A.C.Y. (Music & Art Commendation for Youth) nomination for Best Actor (Codey Huntting) and Best Actress (Kristen Reyes).
  • In 2013, “Anything Goes” was asked to perform as a featured school in the M.A.C.Y. Awards ceremony at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
  • In June of 2007, the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) awarded Capistrano Valley Christian School an Exemplary School Program for the 2007-2008 school year. This prestigious award was presented to CVCS from more than 120 applications.
  • In 2007 at the Music & Art Commendation for Youth (M.A.C.Y.) award ceremony, six individual awards were received by students for their performances in “My Fair Lady.” This followed on the heels of the six MACY awards received in the spring of 2006 including Best Show of the Day, Best Ensemble and a Spotlight Award for one of the five Best Shows in addition to the eight individual awards received by cast members.
  • In 2005, the Performing Arts Department became a charter member of the International Thespian Society
